Samir Eid, born into a family of bakers, was more than just a baker—he was a visionary. He founded Honeytop Speciality Foods in Hackney, London, with a mission to introduce breads of the world to a new audience. At the time, flatbreads were largely unexplored in the UK, and Honeytop became the first company to bring naan breads to market commercially.

Samir’s sons, William and Charles Eid, joined Honeytop in 1989 and 1994, respectively, continuing the mission of introducing ‘Breads of the World’ to the UK market.

As Naan breads grew in popularity across the UK, Signature Flatbreads pioneered ‘clean room technology,’ establishing itself as a market leader in supplying long-life ethnic products.

As demand for our products grew, Honeytop relocated to a larger premises in Dunstable, expanding our capacity to better serve customers and introduce a wider range of breads.

We were the first to introduce folded flatbreads to the market.

We expanded into tortilla, crumpet and pancake production.

We expanded internationally with the opening of our bakery in India. Recognizing a gap in the market for large-scale suppliers of high-quality Indian breads, we established Signature Foods Ltd. to serve the domestic market while also exporting to the Near and Far East.

2015
As consumer demand shifted away from traditional breads towards healthier, more convenient, and creative options, we were uniquely positioned to bring exciting new breads to market. To reflect this evolution and our continued commitment to innovation and excellence, Honeytop Speciality Foods became Signature Flatbreads.
