Our Commitments
Food Waste
At Signature Flatbreads, we are committed to maintaining zero waste to landfill as part of our environmental stewardship. Any surplus product that cannot be redistributed, gets repurposed back into the food system, ensuring nothing goes to waste. We continually strive to shrink food waste as a percentage of our overall production and actively support the UN Sustainability target to reduce global food waste by 30% by 2030.
Carbon Management
Our goal is to achieve Net Zero carbon emissions before 2050. To reduce our environmental footprint, we are continuously enhancing our operations by investing in innovative solutions, such as LED lighting to reduce energy consumption. Our focus is on creating a more efficient business that not only supplies a range of breads that excite and delight consumers but does so while using fewer resources and making a positive contribution to the planet’s future.
Packaging
We are committed to minimising the environmental impact of our packaging by improving recyclability and eliminating single-use plastics. Our packaging plays a vital role in preserving product quality, reducing food waste, and protecting against damage or contamination. While we constantly explore more sustainable solutions, we are also focused on removing any unnecessary packaging from our business. As active supporters of The UK Plastics Pact’s 2025 goals, we are working to increase recycled content in our plastic materials.
Responsible Sourcing
We work closely with our partners to minimise the environmental impacts of food production, including tackling deforestation and climate change. Upholding the rights of everyone in our supply chain is a top priority, supported by our zero-tolerance policy on modern slavery. Through strong collaboration with suppliers, we ensure our high standards and expectations are clearly understood and consistently met. We are proud to partner with trusted certifications such as Red Tractor, FSC, and RSPO, reflecting our commitment to responsible sourcing.
Sustainable Product Development
Facilitating the shift towards healthier and more planet-friendly diets is a core focus of our product development strategy. We continuously innovate to offer a range of nutritious, delicious breads that delight consumers, while working closely with customers to meet nutrition targets for salt, sugar, saturated fat, and calories through reformulation. Additionally, we ensure our Deli Kitchen brand provides clear nutritional information on packaging for greater transparency.
People and Communities
Our people are at the heart of everything we do, and their safety and well-being is our top priority. We ensure adherence to best practices through rigorous Health and Safety standards. As a family business, we treat our employees like family, fostering an environment of care and respect. As the sustainability arm of Signature Flatbreads, Earth & Wheat is dedicated to minimizing food waste and promoting responsible practices in the food industry. By rescuing failed QC breads and repurposing them into a wonky bread subscription box, Earth & Wheat not only reduces waste at the production stage but also helps cut food waste across the UK.
By making it easy and delicious for people to eat well and shop sustainably, we’re gaining ground in the war on waste, and for every box purchased, we donate a meal to charity supporting communities across the country.
